YANOMAMI INDIANS OF THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

 

Storytelling
The Yanomami Indian creation myth, which belongs to an oral tradition which is thousands of years old. The story offers a unique insight into how these people viewed the beginning of the world, the creation of the forest, and the animals and humans which inhabit it.

Exhibition
All photos are A4, full colour, and show the Yanomami in daily activities such as gardening, hunting with bows and arrows, building yano villages, dancing, face painting, gathering wild foods from the forest, the role of different members in society such as children and elders, and current threats to their traditional culture such as logging and gold mining.
